The Seven Award is an annual award presented to deserving Upper School Stanwich athletes whose actions throughout the year manifest the ideals at the heart of the school's mission.
The recipients of the award exemplify the school’s values and mission in the athletic arena. The character of an athlete at Stanwich is exemplary when that mission is fully carried out. In order to be eligible for the award, students must participate in at least one interscholastic sport.
The Seven Award acknowledges an athlete's commitment and compassion, his or her courage and honesty, and the competitor's wisdom, forgiveness, and joy. It is with these qualities of character by which Stanwich athletes distinguish themselves and serve as an example for others in honorable competition. The Seven Award provides a wonderful opportunity for us to validate the mission of the school by recognizing the important moral elements of athletic excellence, and the distinction helps to remind us of all that is good in sports.
Seven Award nominees are offered by Stanwich's coaches and the recipients are announced during the end of year closing ceremony before the entire student population. Each recipient receives an individually citationed plaque and each name is placed on public plaque hung in the gymnasium area.
