Senior House Boys Basketball Team Upends FAS
The Senior House boys basketball team opened their season with a pre-winter break effort, beating French-American School 41-25 at home. In front of fans on the home court, the boys played team ball, unselfishly passing in order to set up teammates for buckets.
Early in the game, the team was tense, even falling behind 2-0 after a few makeable shots fell short. But the team turned it on in the first quarter, with 8 early points from sophomore Sky Huang. Matt Rivera, Senior, then methodically lead the offense, hitting big threes, with contributions from fellow Senior Luke Martin and freshmen Dylan McCormick and Colin Miles. Rei Liang, sophomore, put back offensive rebounds for key points late in the second quarter.
Huge rebounds and put-backs by freshman Eric Feuer and junior Felix Cabrera helped push the lead to 22 at one point in the second half. Sean Kondracki, freshman, and Joel Davis, junior helped stabilize the team when French-American School made a slight push in the 4th quarter. Their team featured four teammates taller than Stanwich’s tallest players but the brief comeback effort was too little too late against a stifling Spartan defense which held the visitors to 6 points in the first half.
