International Day of Peace

Tuesday, September 26, 2017

Our Lower School students celebrated the International Day of Peace on by creating inspirational ribbons and a “mandala” made of flowers. Recognized globally on September 21st each year, this day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to peace above all differences and to contribute to building a culture of peace. This day is an excellent opportunity for our students to see how their Stanwich values are aligned with the mission of children and adults around the world to build a world in which people treat each other with compassion, empathy, and respect. It is also an opportunity for them so see how, with courage and intelligence, they can play a part in creating a better world. In the true spirit of the day, one student wrote on a ribbon, “I hope that areas that have conflict can find peace during tough times. I wish all children peace and happiness.”
