Heart of Stanwich Endowment
To celebrate the legacy of Stanwich founding Headmistress Pat Young, as well as the Stanwich mission, we are thrilled to announce that The Stanwich School has established, with the enthusiastic support of the Greenwich Country Day School leadership, the Pat Young “Heart of Stanwich” Endowment at GCDS. The Fund will be used to support Faculty Humanitarian Grants at our new school home, thus continuing a signature Stanwich program and its name, which honors both our school and founding Headmistress, in perpetuity.
In 2007, the Board of Trustees established the Stanwich Humanitarian Grant to enable faculty to pursue a charitable endeavor abroad during the summer. Over the years, our faculty have shared their “Stanwich Heart” across the globe, from Ghana to Peru, from Northern Ireland to Thailand. Grant recipients have not only served those in need, they have inspired a generation of students to improve the world. Notably, Project Blessing began when Shaun Fletcher was awarded a Humanitarian Grant in 2008 to visit Rwanda. Project Blessing is now an independent charity that has had a transformative effect on Cyabatanzi, a rural community in Rwanda, as well as the many Stanwich students who have visited Cyabatanzi over the past eight years.
Please join us in memorializing the Stanwich values that shaped the lives of our children, our families and our community. We invite you to make a donation to the Pat Young “Heart of Stanwich” Endowment and become a part of the Stanwich School legacy at GCDS.
Thank you for being a part of the Stanwich community, and for helping us to memorialize its founder, its values and the families, that are a part of its remarkable history.
