Masterful Performance By Football Team

In a resounding victory, the Stanwich football team defeated King 32-8 on Stanwich’s home turf. The home game was attended by dozens of Stanwich fans who saw their team score 32 straight points after they found themselves down by 8 in the first quarter.

Sam Walker scored on two runs before halftime, taking handoffs from quarterback Alex Quirk who also completed passes to wide receivers James Winn and Caroline Thomas. On defense, Stanwich flew to make tackles and prevent King drives from ending with scores. Sam Goldberg, Anthony Frangiose, and Charlie Recchia reeked havoc on the line on both sides of the ball. Sean O’Neil scored on a late touchdown and conversion, and Billy Nail also caught passes for good gains. Alex Finerman and Jaden Kennedy made major contributions with blocks and tackles, as did Gage Nettles and Ted Frascella. Jackson Boolbol broke up a key pass play from his safety position and Ryan McMurchy and Rector Davol assisted with the win too. It was a masterful performance in the team’s first game.
