About Stanwich

A Message from the Campaign Co-Chairs

In its very brief history, Stanwich has earned its place among the finest independent co-educational institutions anywhere, and it has done so without fancy buildings, elaborate facilities or any frills whatsoever. Stanwich has, in fact, thrived under makeshift conditions.

But our temporary accommodations will not serve the needs of Stanwich students forever. If the original dream of Stanwich School is to become a reality, then our school needs its own campus, its own buildings, its own athletic and arts facilities and more. Please join us to help build a permanent home for the school that has given so much to our children.

Capital Giving

Capital gifts are unrestricted donations to support the construction of a permanent campus for Stanwich and to increase the school’s cash reserves for future endowment. Families who make Capital Gifts to Stanwich are doing more than supporting a charitable cause; they are helping to found a school.

Stanwich is Building:  The Campus Master Plan

From the day that Stanwich received its charter in 1998, the dream has been to build the first co-educational, PreK-12, independent school in Greenwich. While our student enrollment and program have been growing toward this goal in leased facilities, our administrators and dedicated parents have been working to locate, design and fund a permanent campus for Stanwich. This long-term project is being funded entirely by Capital Giving and tax-exempt bonds.

The early years of Stanwich’s history has been made possible by a generation of of forward-thinking families who have given so generously to found the school. Thanks to their tremendous support, Capital Giving has funded:

  • The purchase of 25 acres at 257 Stanwich Road
  • The commmission of architectural designs for all campus building and facilities
  • The purchase of a neighboring home for future use by the Head of School
  • The successful completion of the local Planning and Zoning approval process

Plans for the permanent Stanwich campus include:

  • The purchase of 12 additional acres at 257 Stanwich Road for a total 37-acre campus
  • Construction of a new Upper School building to house grades 7-12
  • Construction of a new Intermediate House wing for grades 4-6
  • Renovation of existing Primary House for grades K-3
  • Construction of two turf athletic fields
  • Site preparation, roads, water facilities, landscaping, furniture and equipment
