The physical education curriculum offers a wide range of activities and experiences, geared to specific ages and skill levels. Activities are presented to students in a sequential manner, arranged in a meaningful progression from simple to complex. Sports taught include soccer, field hockey, team handball, basketball, squash, gymnastics, fitness, swimming, lacrosse, baseball, softball, and track and field.
The physical education staff fosters a comfortable and supportive learning environment, reinforcing the positive efforts of each student. The five-full time members of the staff are assisted by teacher-coaches and local experts in certain sports, such as squash.
Interscholastic competition is introduced in Grade 7. Stanwich School participates in the Fairchester Athletic League; Stanwich teams compete against other independent schools in Westchester County (New York) and Fairfield County (Connecticut). All Stanwich School teams maintain a strict "no-cut" policy; every player participates.
An annual School-wide "Blue and White Field Day" is held each June to celebrate the collective athletic achievements of all students.
