In Grade 8, students complete an architecture unit and work in groups to create a full-size chair made of carboard. Students also visitthe Metropolitan Museum of Art to visit the exhibit on American Impressionism.

Throughout the year, Grade 8 students work on: Scratch Art Creatures, Expressionist Prints, Impressionist Landscapes, Self-Portraits in Photoshop, and Architectural Designs.

GRADE 9

Using a wide variety of media, including pencil, charcoal, acrylics and paper mache, Grade 9 students learn and apply the principles of design and develop their own form of personal expression.

To further generate excitement about the breadth of visual arts while building skills, connections are made with the Grade 9 World Cultures curriculum. Themes covered include Islamic patterns, Oaxacan creatures, and African mask making.
